Ielts

IELTS Requirements at BPP University

General English Requirements (for most courses):

  • Undergraduate programmes:

    • IELTS Academic overall score: 6.0

    • Minimum 5.5 in each band (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking) is often required. 

  • Postgraduate programmes (Masters, MSc, etc.):

    • IELTS Academic overall score: 6.5

    • Minimum 6.0 in each band is common for most postgraduate courses. 

Foundation and Pre-sessional English options:
If your IELTS score is below the requirement, BPP offers pre-sessional or foundation English courses that help improve your English before starting your degree. 

Course-Specific/Professional Programmes
Some professional or specialised programmes (e.g., law, health, or barrister training) may require higher IELTS scores — for example, law or barrister courses sometimes ask for higher band requirements (up to IELTS 7.0 or above) depending on the course. 


Tips for IELTS and BPP Applications

 IELTS Academic is usually accepted for both admission and UK student visa purposes.

Offers

Offer Letter:
• You receive an offer (conditional or unconditional) after applying and meeting entry requirements. Once accepted and any deposit is paid, your place is confirmed. 

CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies):
• BPP issues a CAS only after you meet all conditions, pay required fees/deposit (usually 60% of tuition for international students), and provide documents. 
• CAS is needed to apply for your UK student visa and usually takes ~2–4 weeks after conditions are met
• A CAS covers the full duration of your programme; if you finish late, getting another CAS later is at BPP’s discretion. 

Visa Timing Tip:
• You can apply for your UK student visa up to 6 months before your course start once you have your CAS.
