Ielts

While we have standard admissions criteria, our focus extends beyond them. At the University, we seek students who will actively contribute to and derive value from our academic programs. As we evaluate your application, we want you to know that we consider you a unique individual, considering all aspects beyond your qualifications. 

The University accepts the following qualifications as satisfying the English Language requirements for entry to a Bachelor's or Master's degree: 

  1. UKVI Academic IELTS's overall score is 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each element.


English language exemptions

Students may be exempt from the University's requirement to have a formal English language qualification if they have studied for a first degree in the English language medium in a majority English-speaking country or they have passed one of the following:


GCSE or O Level English language grade C or above validated in the UK
Indian Class XII - English minimum 70% from the following boards:
IGCSE English as a First Language Grade C and the following individual scores: Reading Grade E, Writing Grade E, Speaking and Listening: Speaking Grade D (0522) or 2 (0500), Listening Grade D (0522) or 2 (0500)
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education)
IGCSE English as a Second Language Grade C and the following individual scores: Reading and Writing: Reading Grade D, Writing Grade D, Oral (Speaking) Grade C (0511) or 2 (0510), Listening Grade A
CISCE (Council of Indian School Certificate examination)
Scottish Certificate of Education Standard Grade English, minimum grade CISC (Indian School Certificate)

Offers

  1. To apply as a new or continuing student, you will need a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), which the University of Bedfordshire issues. 
  2. If you are a new student, this will be issued when you have met all the conditions of your offer to study at Bedfordshire. 
  3. If you are a continuing student, you must request a CAS, and the University will consider your request.

Scholarship

In the first year only on either undergraduate or postgraduate degree courses, international students will receive a £1,000 VC Scholarship. An international student progressing to a higher-level degree* will receive, in the first year only of the new course, both a £1,000 VC Scholarship and a £500 alumni discount. An additional discount of £500 is available for prompt full payment of the first-year fees before or at registration (undergraduate and postgraduate).

Merit Scholarship

We offer a Merit Scholarship to UK students worth £2,400* over three academic years, awarded to those who can demonstrate high academic achievement by scoring 120 UCAS tariff points or more.

Bedfordshire Bursary

If you aren’t eligible for the Merit Scholarship, this Bursary is there to help UK students with aspects of student living, such as course costs. The Bursary will give you £1,000* over three academic years or £1,300* if you take your course over four academic years (including those with a Foundation Year).
